Published on March 5, 2019

The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) makes sure that savings invested in financial products are protected. It provides retail investors with tools and services to help them in their investments. It also offers a mediation service to support investors involved in disputes with financial intermediaries or listed companies in which they hold shares.

AMF Épargne Info Service helpline

To answer questions from investors about financial markets and products, the AMF has set up:

  • a helpline operating weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm, at +33(0)1 5345 6200
  • contact forms to submit online queries.

The AMF is also present in the community, attending the main investor conferences and meeting with consumer associations nationwide.

Comprehensive practical information online

The AMF offers dedicated information tools and services for retail investors on its website, including:

  • information and educational guides explaining how markets work, giving details of financial products and setting out basic rules for managing investments wisely
  • warnings about unlawful products and practices
  • a toolbox with calculators, FAQs and quizzes.

Ombudsman’s office

The AMF Ombudsman may be approached by any person seeking an out-of-court settlement in a dispute with a financial intermediary or a listed company.

Mediation is free of charge, confidential, impartial, quick and voluntary and may be used to attempt to settle disputes in any area under AMF jurisdiction, including:

  • marketing of financial products
  • market operation
  • content of investor disclosures
  • order execution (timeliness and content)
  • problems relating to portfolio management or custody account keeping.

The mediation procedure is covered by a charter.
