Published on December 27, 2013

Four new members of the AMF Board, the institution's decision-making body, have just been appointed by various competent authorities.

The Board, which is the AMF's decision-making body, consists of 16 members. Of the six members retiring in December 2013, three had completed their second terms, while three others had the option of requesting to serve a second five-year term.

By an order published in the Official Journal of 20 December 2013, the minister of the Economy and Finance appointed two members after consulting professional organisations:

  • Ms Marie-Ange Debon, to a second term;
  • Mr Jean-Claude Hanus, to replace Mr Olivier Poupart-Lafarge.

The vice-president of the Conseil d’Etat, the first president of the Court of Cassation and the first president of the Cour des Comptes have respectively appointed:

  • Mr Jean-Claude Hassan, Councillor of the Conseil d’Etat (to replace Mr Jacques Delmas-Marsalet, who had completed his second term);
  • Ms Martine Ract-Madoux, Court of Cassation trial judge, to a second term;
  • Mr Michel Camoin, Senior councellor of the Cour des Comptes (to replace Mr Philippe Adhémar, who had completed his second term).

The president of the National Assembly appointed Mr Thierry Philipponnat, Secretary General of Finance Watch, to replace Mr Jean-Michel Naulot, who had completed his second term.

Gérard Rameix, AMF Chairman, "warmly thanks Jacques Delmas-Marsalet, Philippe Adhémar, Jean-Michel Naulot and Olivier Poupart-Lafarge for their constant commitment to serving the AMF and the quality of their efforts within the various working groups they led and which contributed to improving financial regulation."

As a reminder, in addition to its chairman, who is named by the president of the French Republic for a non-renewable five-year term, the Board includes:

  • three members appointed by the vice-president of the Conseil d’Etat, the first president of the Court of Cassation and the first president of the Cour des Comptes;
  • three members appointed respectively by the president of the Senate, the president of the National Assembly and the president of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council;
  • a representative of the Banque de France appointed by the governor;
  • the chairman of the Autorité des Normes Comptables (ANC);
  • seven members appointed by the minister of the Economy.

With the exception of the representative of the Banque de France and the chairman of the ANC, the term is for five years, which may be renewed once.
